NightLight (“we”, “our”, “us”) does not collect or store any personal data on its own servers. Some limited data (like your current location) is processed locally on your device or transmitted securely to third-party map providers solely to provide app functionality. This policy explains what limited information the app processes and how it is used.
Personal data we collect
Location data: We use your device location to show nearby routes and lamps, calculate directions and share a link via SMS if you choose. Location is processed while you use those features.
Diagnostics: Our servers (Cloudflare Workers) may temporarily process your IP address and basic request metadata to operate the service and prevent abuse. We do not build profiles.
Purchases: Purchases are processed securely by your device’s app store (Apple App Store or Google Play). We receive only the minimal purchase validation information required to confirm an active subscription. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
How we use your data
Provide core features (maps, routing, lamp overlays, reporting).
Validate subscriptions and enable paid features.
Keep the service secure and reliable (rate limiting, debugging).
Data sharing
Apple and Android: In-app purchases are processed securely by your device’s app store (Apple App Store or Google Play). We only receive the minimal purchase validation information necessary to confirm an active subscription. We do not receive or store any payment card details.
Map providers: Routing/map requests may be sent to third-party APIs (e.g., Mapbox, Overpass). These providers receive network metadata (e.g., IP) as part of normal web requests.
We do not sell your personal data.
Data retention
We retain only what’s necessary to operate the service. Routing/lamps requests are not stored long-term. Subscription validation tokens are short-lived.
Your controls
You can revoke location permission in your device settings at any time (note: features may not work without it).
